Avondale Road Street party on the 21st June


Hard work this StreepartyThursday night saw , what looks to be (with any luck), the first of many meetings in The Salisbury to discuss having a street party of some sort. Quite a few people turned up and there was lots of positive talk about what we could do. There was talk of creating a beach area, live music and ritual sacrifice (what with it being close to the summer solstice and with us being an equal opportunities road that respects all religions and belief systems ).

What we were in agreement was the date – 21st of June. We need to have the signatures of at least 50% of the road stating that they are happy to have the road closed and if they might move their cars (not necessary but nice) Jane in the blue (77) house said she would make a form and lots of people volunteered to get signatures and I said I would put this site up as a start – which I have hooray.

We still have to decide on how much of the road to close but we all thought that it might be nicest in the intersection on Conway road Gazebos might play a part and we will need trestle tables.

We thought that we should all bring some food and drink rather than buying it in bulk but there is still lots to decide the next meeting is 7th May 8pm in The Salisbury

Yeah, well done Richard! Sorry we couldn’t do the last meeting but hope we will be able to meet next week. Some good ideas out there already i think! (Particularly the sacrifice thing!) The date suits us fine, too.

Good work Richard. Afraid I can’t make this Thursday’s meeting but am willing to help with anything thereafter.

Hello neighbours! Good to have found you- mail to the address on the leaflet wouldn’t get through but asking my neighbour got me here (alas too late to make tonights meeting)so I was wondering how others on the street will find out about the event and the meetings and get involved? Might we leaflet the street with this web address? I would be happy to help and can post but not print. I am also happy to help with general and on the day stuff (tables, food, entertainment? etc) so will hopefully be able to make the next meeting.

LOL no actual sacrifice – its difficult enough getting the road closed I couldn’t find a form on the council web site for sacrifice anyway ;) Veggie food sounds Lovely

Just wanted to know if its ok to do
a little jumble sale outside of the house
as i have tons of computer hardware i

Also guys week need to get hold of victorian pictures of are street and display them on the site for every one to view.

I’m already in search for them and if i do get my hands on them i will send them to the admin to put the pictures up. :)
