We came out of our houses and filled the street with wonderful home made bunting and palm trees. We built a lawn, a sand pit, a covered games area, table football, a stage with live music, a face painting area. We bedecked table after table with wonderful food and drink. We did this! and not just a few of us but household after household!

I have always thought that there was something special about Avondale road – on Sunday we proved it.

Firstly I have done some car flyers to download and print :download here I guess we should print them out and stick them on no earlier than Wednesday.

So I got a bit carried away and did this. Infact it is easy to do you will need an ink Jet printer some Tee shirt printing paper and this artwork. print onto the paper trim and cut. then Iron on and voila! What I should have done is to have gone to these people alas there is a 5 day turn around but they do lots and we could actually have made a bit – maybe next time or I can take orders.

next meeting is on Thursday usual time and place and also we are going to ‘walk the road’ on Sat 2pm see you all there!

Well it is official and its happening soon in 16 days in fact! A big thank you to Jayne who has spent the time on the phone and been a generally good egg.

Big Ben has done the posters download here and print them off and put one in your window . Not content with that the Genius has done smaller versions to send out here. These may well turn out to be collectors items. There is now loads to do -  if you want to help the next Street Party meeting is next Thursday (11th June) at the Salisbury and before that there is some Bunting making at Barbara’s on Saturday!

Last meeting was a little low key but hey that is the way it is sometimes. So 8pm in the Salisbury this Thursday – if you can be there super if you can’t don’t stress

Firstly Sorry I couldn’t get this out before now but hey – I am sure you all understand.

Last Thursday saw the second official road meeting for the street party. Although we didn’t quite have the breathtaking numbers of our last visit to the Pub. We still managed to get some useful stuff done. I printed out the street party form from Haringey from here so as to get an idea of what we needed to do and by when.

We need to get signatures from all our neighbours and we have forms that you can get either from Barbara @ No. 84 or you can download your own form street-party-questionnaire and print it out. Once you have some can you post them through my door (No 68) or Barbara’s and we will colate them.

We need to get some public liability insurance which we have to show to the council – Lisa and Barbara thought that we might already have this from our Neighbourhood watch membership (we need to chase this up).

We need to send the council £60 – I guess this brings up the thorny issue of money. We have £5 left over from the kitty on the (21st) If I have to layout I will be coming round with the begging bowl (I know where you all live ) We need to think up a way organising the money and keeping track – we can expect that that £60 will just be the start and none of us are millionaires (if you are a millionaire please let us know and we can arrange a special street party in your honour for a reasonable fee).

I want to do a separate post about contributing to this blog – it’s not all about me you know! it’s not hard and it doesn’t have to be about the Street party either.

Our next meeting is on the 14th May 8pm in the Salisbury

What we were in agreement was the date – 21st of June. We need to have the signatures of at least 50% of the road stating that they are happy to have the road closed and if they might move their cars (not necessary but nice) Jane in the blue (77) house said she would make a form and lots of people volunteered to get signatures and I said I would put this site up as a start – which I have hooray.

We still have to decide on how much of the road to close but we all thought that it might be nicest in the intersection on Conway road Gazebos might play a part and we will need trestle tables.

We thought that we should all bring some food and drink rather than buying it in bulk but there is still lots to decide the next meeting is 7th May 8pm in The Salisbury
